Bathiya and Santhush are a Sri Lankan music duo comprised of Bathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman. Who are renowned for their fusion of traditional Sri Lankan music with Western pop music.
The duo has been making music together for over two decades and have gained recognition in the South Asian music scene for their unique fusion of traditional Sri Lankan music with modern genres. They have released several albums and have collaborated with numerous other artists.
BNS gained recognition in India with their collaboration with Indian playback singers Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Chinmayi and Naveen.
Bathiya & Santhush (Sinhala: ΰΆ·ΰ·ΰΆΰ·ΰΆΊ ΰ·ΰ· ΰ·ΰΆ±ΰ·ΰΆΰ·ΰ·ΰ·) have produced over 50 number-one hit singles, six platinum selling mainstream albums, four commercially successful EPs and countless movie soundtracks. BNS are one of the biggest musical acts to hit the Sri Lankan musical scene since the 1990s, mixing Sinhala, Tamil, and English rap verses in their originals, while they have also mixed Hindi rap verses in their folk hop remixes bringing out their contemporary style and the music industry in Sri Lanka.
BNS is also the only Sri Lankan artistes to have albums under both Sony BMG & Universal Music India. Having performed in over 1500 concerts in Sri Lanka and overseas.
Umaria Sinhawansa
Sri Lankan pop, R&B and jazz singer who gained popularity in 2020 with her hit single “Manda Pama” that reached 10 million views in a short time. Award winning, Youngest Recording Artiste to appear as a judge on the Sri Lankan Version of ‘American Idolβ.
Known for her versatility, Umaria has a remarkable ability to effortlessly transition between various genres, including pop, classical, and traditional Sri Lankan music. Her mesmerizing performances, coupled with her emotive vocal range, have captivated audiences both locally and internationally.
Umaria Sinhawansa continues to enchant audiences with her exceptional vocal talent and continues to be a prominent figure in the Sri Lankan music industry. Her soulful renditions and captivating stage presence make her a cherished artist, admired by fans of all ages.
Randhir Witana
Sri Lanka’s Hip-Hop heartthrob, Randhir Witana, known simply as Randhir, is a Sri Lankan rapper and songwriter.
Randhir began his professional music career as a member of the first hip hop music group of Sri Lanka. Later he collaborated with Sri Lankan hip hop duo BnS featuring on their first hip hop remix song “Siri Sangabodhi”.
Randhir has also performed at a number of international locations including Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, London, Frankfurt, KΓΆln, Sydney (Opera House), Melbourne, Auckland, Wellington, Bangkok, New Delhi, Goa, Mumbai, Muscat and Doha.
Lunu Dehi
Their musical journey began with their first gig at a Bathiya and Santhush show held in Polonnaruwa. Since then, LunuDehi has collaborated with Bathiya and Santhush at concerts and have become known for their unique sound and energetic performances.
After playing keyboards with βThe Gypsiesβ for 19 years, Dushan launched his new band with Nalin Samath, who stepped in to play guitar for Gypsies.
Lunu Dehi will be backing Bathiya and Santhush at their upcoming North America and United Kingdom tours in 2024.
